Toronto Film School Partners with Arts Palace of Shanghai Theatre Academy

 

On Dec. 1, 2016, Toronto Film School officially partnered with Arts Palace of Shanghai Theatre Academy to Offer Online Digital Education in China. The signing ceremony between Arts Palace of Shanghai Theatre Academy and Toronto Film School was held in the West Wing of Xiongfu Building of Shanghai Theatre Academy.

“Toronto Film School is excited to be working on the Arts Palace project with esteemed partners like the Shanghai Theatre Academy,” said Walter Lee, Senior Vice President of Toronto Film School. ” Online education, when delivered using best practices in teaching and learning and the right technology, can foster cultural and creative exchange in ways we may not have previously imagined.  We are thrilled to be working alongside many of the most prestigious creative universities in China as they launch this national initiative to deliver creative programs online.”

 

This singing marks a new starting point for international educational cooperation between Toronto Film School and Arts Palace of Shanghai Theatre Academy. Arts Palace is a comprehensive service platform that offers online and offline training programs for talented students in China’s National Ministry of Culture’s Science and Technology Innovation Project. The partnership with Toronto Film School has grown into an integrated platform to promote arts education and to offer high-end arts education in China. Having signed this agreement with Toronto Film School, the international education programs will now officially launch.

In attendance was Huang Changyong , President of Shanghai Theatre Academy, Walter Lee, Senior Vice President of Toronto Film School, Sheng Simei, the Deputy Director of State Assets Management of Shanghai Theatre Academy, Ding Hao, Vice President of Arts Palace, Cheng Quan, Vice President of Arts Palace, and Guo Jia, Director of Operation of Arts Palace.

 

Toronto Film School is part of RCC Institute of Technology, an institution that has been added by the Ministry of Education, the People’s Republic of China to its list of Canadian colleges approved for foreign study. In the first phase of the collaboration, Toronto Film School will offer Film Production, Video Game Design and Animation, and Graphic Design and Interactive Media diploma programs on Arts Palace’s platform.

Each program is two years long, eight semesters, and a total of 21-23 courses. Courses will be available on Arts Palace in February 2017. After completing the two-year online course, students will earn an Associate Diploma from Toronto Film School. All online courses count towards the completion of a full diploma program at Toronto Film School in Toronto, Canada. Students can attend the Toronto Film School for their final two terms of the program. After successful completion of their online Associate Diploma or transfer at any time to study in Canada in the centre of Canada’s film industry at Canada’s premier film school.

Mr. Huang Changyong, President of Shanghai Theater Academy, introduced the splendid history of the Shanghai Theater Academy to Walter Lee. Speaking of the international online education program, Mr Huang said that they would continue to integrate the domestic and international high-quality art education resources and build Arts Palace into a more diverse and more open art education platform in the future.

 

Mr. Lee said that he was very honoured to attend the signing ceremony at the 71st anniversary of Shanghai Theater Academy. Toronto Film School is one of the first institutions in Canada to offer online education on Arts Palace. It is also a pioneer in online education in Canada. During the cooperation, Walter was very impressed with Arts Palace’s online learning system and said he is confident partnership will be a great success.
